Oral Latin:

 

Eamus - Let's go

 

Expressions, Mottoes, Abbreviations:

 

De facto - In fact, In reality

 

Suum cuique - To each his own, May all get their due

 

Habeas corpus - "You shall have the body of information”, to go before a judge and request grounds for detainment

 

q.v., quod vide - Which [you should] see 

  • Used when the author wants the reader to see a specific cross reference, put in parenthesis after the reference

 

Morituri te salutamus - We who are about to die salute you 

  • Meant as a final, respectful goodbye

 

O tempora! O mores! - Oh the times! Oh the customs!

  • Used to say that these are bad in some way

 

Ex post facto - Arising or enacted after the fact, retroactive

  • For example, an ex post facto law sets penalties for crimes committed at the time when the crime was not yet illegal.
